YOGA
About My Teaching
I work with everyone- all ages, all body types, etc.... I help students find what's right for their body. I encourage the use of props if this is helpful. I believe all bodies are unique and should be treated that way. I encourage students to concentrate on how they feel, not how they look in a pose. In each of my classes I try to bring in being present and mindful no matter the type of class I am teaching. I believe all yoga classes should incorporate the 4 pillars of health-physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. This is what I strive to do in each and every class. My goal is for you to leave my class feeling great!

Begin or wrap up your day calmed, focused, and refreshed by joining Lisa for Yin yoga classes with a different theme each week. Yin yoga is a wonderful complement to any sport, physical exercise, or other type of yang yoga. It targets the deep connective tissues rather than muscles. It is a slower, more meditative practice that gets us out of the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight) and into the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest). You will learn how to breathe through discomfort and sit with your thoughts. Adding a yin yoga practice just once or twice a week to your routine can give you more mobile joints and connective tissue, increased flexibility, better circulation, and decreased stress and anxiety.
Each class will begin with a grounding exercise. This will be followed by a practice of Yin yoga postures that will be held for three to five minutes each. Props will be used. A yoga mat, two yoga blocks, and two blankets will be used in each class. They are available at the yoga studio, or feel free to bring your own. The class will conclude in savasana (lying on your back) so your body and mind can integrate everything from the class and give you time and space to drop into a relaxing, sometimes blissful state, before you start your day.
Join Lisa for a slow moving Hatha yoga class. We will start with a grounding exercise and then move into yoga poses (asanas). Movement will be at a slow pace and options will be offered so you can choose what is right for YOUR body. We will wind down to rest and restore in savasana to integrate all that was done in class.
Yoga is beneficial for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. This is a class for all levels- from someone who has never tried yoga to experienced yogis. It is parrticularly suited to people who have not exercised for a long time and want to start again. You will grow with the class. All are welcome including teens, tweens, and adults of any age.
Yoga with Variations
Ever wanted to try yoga but were hesitent because of balance, thinking you might not be able to do all the poses, or worried about transitioning from sitting to standing? Then this class is for you. We will all have a chair nearby. You can use the chair the whole time or just when you need it. This is a Hatha class. We will start with a grounding exercise (usually a guided meditation), do some gentle movements to warm up and then move into our poses. We will end in Savasana or another restorative pose.
"I took this Yin yoga class because I wanted to get back into a more active self-care routine, reduce stress, manage anxiety, and increase overall circulation. The biggest tangible changes I have noticed since beginning this Yin yoga class are a decrease in stress and increased focus on mental well-being. I am enjoying yoga more than I ever have before .Lisa was able to help me learn techniques to take the peaceful environment of class out into the world with me for the rest of the day. She is calm, organized, knowledgable, genuine, caring, helpful, and occassionally hilarious! I would recommend my teacher to anyone who could use a little more calm in their lives. Her prices are very reasonable and that is one of the largest contributing factors that have allowed me to continue taking her classes." -Felicia
"Since I began Yin Yoga classes with Lisa, my flexibility is much better and when working in the garden this spring, my hips and knees did not 'scream' at me. I have reduced headaches and stiffness has become less and less. I would recommend this teacher to everyone.- Melissa L
"I took this Yin Yoga class because I missed the senior yoga class that was offered at the Listening Wellness Center in the past. Lisa was able to help me to regain my flexibiltity and improve my back pain. I feel more confident about the strength of my body despite my advanced age! I would describe Lisa as kind, knowledeable, professioal, encouraging and non-judgmental. I would recommend my teacher to anyone hoping to develop a stronger, more flexible, and pain-free body. This is yoga for all- no matter your age or the condition of your body, she makes everyone feel respected and accepted. I always leave class feeling more relaxed, more capable, and more optimistic about my health and my life!"- Diana
